David Cardone has been active in community theatre for years. He is glad to be back at the Ivoryton Playhouse for a second time, last here playing the role of the sheriff in The Rainmaker. David was just seen as George Hay in Moon Over Buffalo with the Chester Meetinghouse Players. Favorite characters have been the recurring role of fictional “film noir” detective Justin Thyme and playing identical twins in Flying Feathers. He has also enjoyed roles in Cahoots, Rumors, Noises Off, Earth and Sky and The Problem. Earlier this year, David was seen in Enchanted April at The Kate, playing opposite his real life wife, Nancy. Nancy Richardson Cardone has been fortunate to work with various theatre groups over the years. She has played many different parts: mother, daughter, sister, friend and wife – all roles she enjoys in real life as well. She met her husband, David Cardone, several years ago, when they were cast as husband and wife in the comedy Cahoots (they have been in “cahoots” ever since-!). While she enjoys playing opposite her husband on stage, in the real world, she likes to work with him. You can find them at Cardone & Daughter Automotive in Westbrook, CT.
Grace Carver is thrilled to be performing at the Ivoryton Playhouse for the first time! She is a recent graduate of Valley Regional High school, where she performed in the ensemble in The Sound of Music, Miss Phillips in Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, Charlotte Drake Cardoza in Titanic, and most notably as Meg Brockie in Brigadoon, for which she was awarded “Best Supporting Actress” at the Connecticut High School Music Theatre Awards.
R. Bruce Connelly* appeared last at the Ivoryton Playhouse in Breaking Up Is Hard To Do: Featuring the Songs of Neil Sedaka, in Last Of The Red Hot Lovers and in Hairspray – the Broadway Musical. Other roles here include Max Bialystock in The Producers, the title role in Barnum, Felix Unger in The Odd Couple, Pseudolus in A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum, Finian in Finian’s Rainbow, Dr. Einstein in Arsenic and Old Lace, Willie Clark in The Sunshine Boys and Max Prince in Laughter on the 23rd Floor. Other roles elsewhere include J.M. Barrie in The Lost Boy at the Helen Hayes Theatre, Murray Burns in A Thousand Clowns and title roles in The Man Who Came to Dinner, Scapino!, Uncle Vanya, The Music Man and half the town in Greater Tuna. Since 1993, Bruce has played Barkley, Jim Henson’s Muppet dog on Sesame Street for which he has been honored sixteen times by the National Academy of Television and Radio at the Daytime Emmy Awards.
Tyler Matthew Felson is super-psyched to make his return to the Ivoryton Playhouse! An 8th grader in Guilford, Tyler was most recently seen here as Oliver in their 2012 production of Oliver! Recent stage credits include: Pugsley in the world amateur premiere of The Addams Family (French Woods Festival), Archie in 13 (Middletown Stage Company), Archie in 13 (Whitney Players), Winthrop in The Music Man (Bridgeport Theater Company) Oliver in Oliver! (Ivoryton Playhouse), and Oliver in Oliver! (Backstage Players). He also made his film debut last year as Young Vincent in My Brother Jack.
Melanie Guerin holds a bachelor’s degree in clarinet performance and instrumental music education, as well as a master’s degree in music education with a conducting emphasis, both from The Hartt School. She studied clarinet with Charlie Russo and conducting with Glen Adsit. Miss Guerin is currently on the faculty of the Greater Hartford Academy of the Arts, where she was Teacher of the Year for the 2011-12 school year. She teaches woodwinds, music theory, music history, and ear training, as well as directing and arranging for the Academy Pops. She has worked as a music director and pit musician for numerous children’s, community, and professional theater productions throughout Connecticut and Massachusetts. She is the author of an original children’s musical and is currently writing a music theory textbook.
Olivia Harry is fourteen years old and happy to be back at the Ivoryton Playhouse, where she made her theatrical debut, at the age of eight in Touch of the Child. A few past credits include, A Child’s Christmas in Wales; Choir, Willy Wonka; The Candy Man, Cinderella Story (The Musical); Uglina, 101 Dalmatians; Anita, Rapunzel; Rapunzel and much more. She was also in two films, American Jubilee; Young Kenzie and a Wesleyan student film, Lolo; School Girl.
Angela Lamb – Violinist Angela Lamb is a fierce and passionate musician equally at home playing Bach on the concert stage to fiddling in a bar. Angela is a member of the Tempest violin/piano duo with pianist Ina Jeon who recently made their NYC debut performing works by Beethoven and Lieberson at the Beethoven Institute. Angela performs with the Eastern Connecticut Symphony, the Hartford Independent Chamber Orchestra, the Hartt Symphony Orchestra, Foot in the Door Contemporary Ensemble, and the Opera in the Ozarks Orchestra. She has served as concertmaster for both the Hartt Symphony Orchestra and the Lawrence Symphony Orchestra and was a member of the Green Bay Symphony Orchestra for the 2011-12 season. Angela is currently pursuing her Masters at The Hartt School where she studies with Katie Lansdale. Angela graduated summa cum laude from Lawrence University where she studied with Wen-Lei Gu. Angela also enjoys teaching and went to Haiti in the summer of 2011 to teach at a summer music camp in Jacmel.
Larry Lewis is pleased to return to the Ivoryton Playhouse appearing as Principal Clark earlier this summer in Footloose, and as Mister Brownlow in last summer’s production of Oliver. Other Playhouse favorites include Senator Rawkins in the 2010 production of Finian’s Rainbow, as ‘HC’ in the 2008 production of The Rainmaker, and Herbie in the 2006 production of Gypsy. Others include Major Markinson in A Few Good Men, Virgil Blessing in Bus Stop, and John Hancock in 1776. Regional credits include Harrison Howell in the Colonial Theater’s production of Kiss Me Kate, Dillard in the Marterre Theater Company’s production of Foxfire at the Eugene O’Neill Theater Center, and as Jake in the Majestic Rose production of Jake’s Women.
Michael McDermott* studies voice with internationally known singer and actress Ms. Marni Nixon of NYC. He also studies cello with Ms. Celeste Winocur Cumming of West Hartford CT. Michael recently just wrapped up performing at The Charter Oak Cultural Center, with the wonderful company “ dancEnlight”, under the direction of Choreographer and Artistic Director Ms. Lorelei Chang, Michael was so proud to get to co- write and narrate Ms. Lorelei Changs creation of “The Way”. A story about the art of Chinese Tea Ceremony. He was last seen at The Katharine Hepburn Cultural Arts Center in Old Saybrook CT. playing Juror #8, in 12 Angry Men with The Saybrook Stage Company. Michael was also seen at The Ivoryton Playhouse in their production of, The Producers, playing Leo Bloom. Michael has also performed at Seven Angels Theater, Goodspeed Opera House, and The Spirit of Broadway Theater. Michael just finished up two concerts with his Irish Group, “Cead Mile Failte”, meaning A Hundred Thousand Welcomes in Gaelic.
Louise Muller is a classically trained violinist and studied at University of Southern Maine in Music performance, but today she plays rock, folk, country and swing fiddle in several bands including Yankee Dogs and the Stephanie Hansen Band, while still playing for weddings and filling in for various local symphonies and pit orchestras. She is an accomplished stain glass artist and wood sculptor having studied Art at San Jose State University. Today she is a web tech for The Last Green Valley in the Northeast corner of CT, while also designing electric violins and repairing traditional instruments as a partner in Lola Strings Bowed Instrument Repair. www.mullerhead.com
Ted Phillips has been performing folk music, traditional and contemporary, from around the world for over 50 years. He plays the banjo, guitar, mandolin, bagpipes, trombone, and charango (a Bolivian instrument like a small guitar). His music includes many songs from Central America, South America (learned as a Peace Corps Volunteer in Chile), Scotland, and Ireland; bluegrass tunes; and songs from all eras in United States history. He is currently Director of School Counseling at a public high school in Connecticut, and has been a teacher and school principal. Ted is an avid runner and plays vintage baseball. His last acting role was in high school, so he is thrilled to be part of this production.
Norman Rutty is delighted to be, once again, on the Playhouse stage in the company of so many talented people. Norm’s first appearance at Ivoryton was in the role of Scrooge in Scrooge the Musical, followed by roles in A Christmas Carol, Big River, The King & I, Touch of the Child and The Philadelphia Story. Norm’s other regional theater credits include the role of Sweeney in Sweeney Todd, Fagin in Oliver, and supporting roles in Baby, Violet, Man of La Mancha, Red Hot & Cole and the US premier of the musical Falls.
Carson Waldron is happy to be back again at the Ivoryton Playhouse. He just finished playing Ricky in The Seven Year Itch. Cason has appeared in Oliver, A Childs Christmas in Wales and Home For the Holidays. Carson attends Westbrook Middle School and enjoys soccer and skiing.
Mason Waldron is thrilled to be returning to the Ivoryton Playhouse stage. Mason appeared as a member of Fagan’s gang in Oliver and also in A Childs Christmas in Wales. Mason attends Westbrook Middle School and enjoys playing the French Horn, soccer and skiing.
